My Sweet Escape

What is your favorite thing to do? Think about the place where you love to go or that thing you love to do. I'm sure it's something that just makes you feel good. It's something that blows everything out of the water. Nothing can even come close to it. For me it's following God. It's talking about God with my wife and my kids or my friends and family. I could talk about Jesus every second. As you can tell I even love writing about God. I am not the best at it but that's when I feel so close to Him. I feel so close to Him when I am talking about Him or writing about Him or serving Him. When my wife and I get to go down and serve in Mexico there is nothing like it. Getting to be the hands and feet of Jesus. What an amazing privilege. I feel so close to Him. Not only do I want to think about Him and talk about Him but I want to know what He wants from me. If you look at Isaiah 58 I think we can get a clear view of what God wants and expects from us.

Isaiah 58 (The Message)
What I'm interested in seeing you do is:
sharing your food with the hungry,
inviting the homeless poor into your homes,
putting clothes on the shivering ill-clad,
being available to your own families.
Do this and the lights will turn on,
and your lives will turn around at once.
Your righteousness will pave your way.
The God of glory will secure your passage.
Then when you pray, God will answer.
You'll call out for help and I'll say, 'Here I am.'

A Full Life in the Emptiest of Places
9-12"If you get rid of unfair practices,
quit blaming victims,
quit gossiping about other people's sins,
If you are generous with the hungry
and start giving yourselves to the down-and-out,
Your lives will begin to glow in the darkness,
your shadowed lives will be bathed in sunlight.
I will always show you where to go.
I'll give you a full life in the emptiest of places—
firm muscles, strong bones.
You'll be like a well-watered garden,
a gurgling spring that never runs dry.
You'll use the old rubble of past lives to build anew,
rebuild the foundations from out of your past.
You'll be known as those who can fix anything,
restore old ruins, rebuild and renovate,
make the community livable again.
13-14"If you watch your step on the Sabbath
and don't use my holy day for personal advantage,
If you treat the Sabbath as a day of joy,
God's holy day as a celebration,
If you honor it by refusing 'business as usual,'
making money, running here and there—
Then you'll be free to enjoy God!
Oh, I'll make you ride high and soar above it all.
I'll make you feast on the inheritance of your ancestor Jacob."
Yes! God says so!

So I encourage you today to pray that God would change your heart. Pray That He would open your eyes and your heart to the poor and to those who need. If somebody needs something don't turn away, help them. Give them clothes. If you know somebody that is struggling then help them. Spend time with your family and take care of them. If somebody asks for something don't expect it back. You should give, give and give some more. I promise you when you give there is nothing that feels better then to give. We are so blessed and so comfortable in America. We need to stand up and start giving back to others that are in desperate need right now. Pray about it and let God lead you to where He wants you.
God bless you today,

Dex
